Maths

In Maths, we use the Power Maths (Active Learn Primary) scheme, which has been designed alongside WhiteRose Maths. The children have log in details for the Active Primary website. This gives them access to Maths games to support their classwork as well as ebooks set to their reading level.  

 

Autumn 1

 

Unit 1 - Place value 

including:

  • Roman numerals
  • the value of digits
  • reading and writing numbers
  • partitioning
  • finding 10,100,1000,10000,100000 more/less

 

Unit 2 - Place value 2

including:

  • using number lines
  • comparing and ordering numbers
  • rounding

 

Unit 3 - Addition and Subtraction 

including:

  • mental strategies
  • adding and subtracting larger numbers using the column method
  • rounding to estimate / check answers
  • inverse operations
  • problem solving with addition and subtraction
  • missing number problems
