As you will be aware, the council is again working with Samworth Brothers to support families with children who receive benefits related free school meals or are vulnerable with food over the October half term. There will be six pop up venues across the city that will enable parents of children entitled to free school meals to collect food for the half term.
Parents must register for a place by 11:59pm today (Tuesday 26 September) using the online form in the information sheet. This has been updated to reflect those venues which are full.
Wesley Hall Community Centre are having free children's Keep active & youth club sessions
The Keep active sessions will be starting this Saturday 23rd September 12 - 1pm for children aged 5-12 years.
The Youth Club will be every Friday 7pm till 9pm & Saturday 1pm - 3pm for children aged 8-16 years.

Annual seasonal flu vaccination is now due
Offers the best protection against flu. It is given as a spray squirted up each nostril. It's quick and painless.
For some children the nasal spray is not suitable for medical reasons. Our team will review the medical information submitted before offering the flu vaccine injection.
The nasal vaccine contains traces of a highly processed form of porcine gelatine.
Flu vaccine injection
The injection is given into the muscle in the upper arm, which may cause soreness.
This vaccine is offered as an alternative if the nasal spray is not suitable due to medical reasons.
This vaccine does not contain porcine gelatine.

How to give consent for your child to get the flu vaccination
Make a note of the code for your school.
For Spinney Hill the school code is LE120084 and visit www.leicsandrutlandimms.co.uk
Select Seasonal Flu and enter the school code. On the consent declaration page you can consent for either the nasal flu vaccine or the injectable flu vaccine.
You will receive a confirmation email when the form is submitted.
If you are unable to complete the form online, please call us on 0300 300 0007 or e-mail lpt.sais@nhs.net with your contact details. If you change your mind about your consent decision, please call us on the number above to change it.
The date for the flu vaccination session is:
MONDAY 13th NOVEMBER 2023
The consent system will close two working day before the vaccination session. You will not be able to submit a consent form on the day.

My child has a health condition and normally has the vaccine from the GP.
They are also able to have the vaccination at school.
What are the side effects?
Children may develop a runny or blocked nose, headache, general tiredness and some loss of appetite. These symptoms are much milder than developing fu or complications associated with flu. Serious side-effects are uncommon.
Why is there is new flu injection every year?
Flu viruses change every year, so flu vaccines are updated to protect against the latest strains.

If you think your child is eligible for a free school meal, then the quickest way to apply for is online at leicester.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals .
This is particularly important for any new starters who have come from other Local Authorities if they have had Free School Meals at their previous school.,

If your child requires an asthma inhaler or an auto-injector e.g. Jext, Epipen. Could you please ensure that you provide the school with a new one for this year as many are now reaching or have reached expiry dates. This also applies to other medicines that might be given in school e.g. cetrizine.
Could you also please inform us if your child no longer requires to have any of these administered at school.

The Household Support Fund continues to be available to support those households most in need. Applications are open for families to apply directly through the main city council website (certain dates and times apply). Schools are able to act as professional referrers and can make a professional referral (Wednesday’s only) on a family's behalf.
