SSPAN, Leicester Dance 26.01.22

Back at the start of 2020, we had a group of children that did a dance routine relating to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. This group worked incredibly hard and ended up with a 3rd place finish, so we knew expectation was going to be high. This year we were given a theme of "HAPPINESS IS", so we brainstormed with the children of what they felt happiness is, and we settled on the idea of a dance based on a day at the beach.

The children set about learning the routine with great enthusiasm, giving up 3 or 4 lunchtimes a week in an attempt to perfect the moves. Myself and Miss Magee are so proud of how hard the children worked over the past few weeks, showing lots of passion, teamwork and resilience to keep going when things didn't quite go right.

The day of the competition came and the children were feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement as we travelled to Crown Hills. All the schools that took part on the day performed impeccably, supporting each other and displaying brilliant sportsmanship. Once all schools had performed the judges  provided their feedback to each team, when it came to Spinney Hill the judges mentioned that the group had completely nailed the brief, performing with fantastic timing and overall the performance just made everyone smile. Cheers rang out when we were announced as the winners, and this was well deserved for both the performance and all the hard work that they put in.
